Team Nigeria Emerge Champions of the HELP Asia Parliamentary 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA- Intertext Education in collaboration with HELP University recently organised the HELP Asia Parliamentary Debate Competition 2025. The two day event included a debate workshop, 4 preliminary rounds, Semi Finals and Finals. The debate competition was conducted entirely in the English language, following the 'Asian Parliamentary Debate' format. Each team consisted of three main debaters and divided into the Government and the Opposition.

This year, the Senior Champion was awarded to Team Indonesia with the Junior Champions going to Team Nigeria. The countries in attendance included:
1. Tajikistan
2. Indonesia
3. China
4. Cambodia
5. Singapore
6. Thailand
7. Brunei
8. Philippines
9. Pakistan
10. Nigeria
11. Taiwan
12. Vietnam
13. South Korea
14. Malaysia
15. India
16. Japan
Team Nigeria qualified to the Junior Finals as the Top 2 Best teams in the tournament after winning 2 preliminary rounds and achieving one of the highest speaker scores for the tournament. The topics debated were:
Round 1: This House Supports the blanket ban on the use of social media for those under the age of 16
Round 2: This House Prefers a world where intermarriage is widespread
Round 3: This House Would join the cult
Round 4: This House, as the ICC, would stand against India
Grand Finals: This House, as a middle-class individual living in a moral credit society, would sell their moral credits
Chief Executive Officer of Intertext Education, Albert Kamahlendra, emphasized the importance of the role of debating in education.

"This debate competition is the best platform not only to foster the value of integrity but also to hone the students' critical thinking skills and encourage them to have a global perspective when voicing their opinions on important current issues in the world. We are proud to host and collaborate in this commendable effort,” he added.
